New Year. New Website. New Book.

Happy New Everything, y’all! Okay, I know I’m a little late for a New Year’s post, but life’s thrown me a few curve balls over the last six months, so the real New Years past me by in a blur. Now, as I begin to climb out from under, there’s plenty to talk about. My new website for starters! After years of putting off a major revamp because I didn’t have the time (translation: I had no idea what I was doing and was too stubborn to ask for help) I finally hired a team of professionals to make my site shine FOR me, and did they ever. I love how the site turned out. It’s gorgeous and evocative, and really makes all my books shine. And the best part is that it’s up and running in time for my next book release! My sixth novel, The Last of the Moon Girls, publishes on August 1st, and I have to say, I’m absolutely “over the moon” about this book! I love the story with its magick and mystery, and the many gifted Moon women who walked through my head as I wrote, and have now become a permanent part of me. I hope you’ll love them too!

Dear Ms. Davis. I have never felt compelled to comment on any book, but after reading “The Last of the Moon Girls,” I had to reach out. The book was well written and full of sage advice for anyone to heed. An author’s goal is to create a protagonist that her readers are rooting for. In this book, I found myself rooting for each unique character to find their place in the world. The prose often brought tears to my eyes. Thank you for bringing this story alive.

Perhaps it’s because I’ve started my own journey to finish a manuscript based on my mother’s recollections of a child in WW11, that I can truly appreciate the effort it takes to sit down and complete a novel. Althea’s words have indirectly helped me connect to my need to write my story – and give it a happy ending.

    Kind Regards,

    Marcelle Hawkins

Wow…..First page 1st thing in the morning; the demands of a very hot Summer Sunday in Maine interrupting my visit with Lizzy as she awakens to the incredible insights of Adele. I left all for demanding sleep after the last page at 4:30 this morning. In 74 years of living I don’t recall being so captured emotionally by a protagonist.
I will obtain a print copy so that Adele’s wisdom can bookmarked and easily referred to.
I have only once before ever written to an author, but I could not even start my day without first thanking you.

I loved this book so much! I love the Magick feel without being overly unreal and too out there. It was such a feel good book!

I honestly wish there were 7 more books, a series!! One can only hope.

This is the second of your books for me; I loved it! It actually had me in tears at the end. All the characters are so strong and the book is beautifully written. I could almost smell the essential oils and the smoke. So glad you gave up the day job and pin stripes to follow your dream. Thank you!

    Hi Barbara Davis!
    I have a few questions …
Just curious if you ever took writing classes in college or elsewhere? How did you prepare yourself to become a writer after leaving your day job? How did you find out how to get your first book published so quickly?
I am writing my own story and look forward to getting it published some day soon but don’t know how to get started.
    Thanks!

I just finished The Echo of Old Books, the first of your books that I’ve read, but it won’t be the last! I truly enjoyed the way you set the story up, giving readers Belle’s and Hemi’s stories as well as allowing us to learn about Ashlyn and Ethan. I will be recommending The Echo of Old Books to my book club members and other reading friends. Thank you!
